WHAT WE DO (OUR FOCUS)

HEALTH
CONFLICT
Taking on the Triple-Threat
There are clear connections between poverty and preventable diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) looks at conditions known as “diseases of poverty” because they are seen primarily in low-income populations. As we address poverty, we alleviate some of these conditions.
The correlation between violent conflict and poverty is also well studied. Displaced households and households with widows, orphans, elderly and the disabled are most vulnerable to falling into poverty as a result of conflict. Households which are already poor risk falling further into poverty.

When the three are found in the same settings, they perpetuate a vicious cycle posing a triple-threat to dignity, wellbeing and the overall sustenance of life.
